Client portal
Terms of service
Short, in plain English. By creating an account on the client portal you agree to these terms and to the privacy and data-handling policy.
Last updated September 19, 2026.
What NFRA is, and is not
- National Firearm Rights Assistance (“NFRA”) is an independent document-preparation and guidance service. It is not a law firm, does not practice law, and does not give legal advice. Nothing on the portal creates an attorney–client relationship.
- NFRA is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Department of Justice or any government body.
- Relief under the Federal Firearm Rights Restoration program is discretionary and decided solely by DOJ. NFRA does not and cannot guarantee eligibility, acceptance, or approval.
- FFRR does not restore state or tribal firearm rights.
What the portal does
The portal generates a document checklist from the DOJ rule for your situation, stores the records you provide, tracks what is missing, and lets NFRA staff review your file. When the package is complete, the portal shows the steps that happen inside DOJ’s own application. The portal does not file with DOJ. You submit the application, your fingerprints and your references through DOJ’s system yourself.
Your responsibilities
- Provide true, complete information. DOJ requires you to disclose every prohibition and every prior conviction, including matters that were expunged, pardoned or set aside, and to affirm the truth of your application under penalty of perjury.
- Upload only records about yourself, or records you are entitled to provide for your own application.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- Do not attempt to access any file other than your own.
Fees
Creating an account, the eligibility self-check and the state-records finder are free. NFRA’s client fee, shown on the Billing page, unlocks document storage and staff review. DOJ’s own application fee is separate and is paid to DOJ. NFRA’s fee covers preparation work and is not contingent on DOJ’s decision.
Your data
How records are stored, who can see them, how long they are kept and how to delete them is set out in the privacy and data-handling policy, which is part of these terms.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the portal available but do not promise uninterrupted service. We may update the portal and these terms; material changes will be shown in the portal. Continuing to use the portal after a change means you accept it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, NFRA’s liability arising from the portal or its services is limited to the fees you paid NFRA. NFRA is not liable for decisions made by DOJ, for delays in DOJ’s process, or for information you provided that was inaccurate or incomplete.
